baycap is a next generation boutique debt advisory firm based in Geelong and Noosa.

We partner with business owners, investors and high-net-worth individuals to deliver smarter strategic lending solutions across both commercial and personal finance—with confidence and clarity.

Our experience spans broad spectrum—from ASX-listed entities to family-run businesses and everything in between—giving us the insight and capability to deliver the right solution, no matter the scale or complexity. Beyond broking, we act as trusted financial wingmen—navigating complexity, unlocking opportunities, and aligning outcomes with long-term goals.

With a blend of creativity, strategy, and heart, we help your ideas come to life. Every project we take on is an opportunity to do something meaningful. We treat our clients like partners and our work like craft.

People-first, community-grounded, and fiercely committed to helping you succeed—smarter, not harder.

Our Services

  • We structure, negotiate and execute debt facilities across the full spectrum of commercial lending, from working capital and asset finance through to complex syndicated structures. Drawing on senior banking experience, we know how credit decisions are made on the other side of the table, and we use that insight to position every transaction for the strongest possible outcome. We act exclusively in the client's interest, run competitive lender processes where they add value, and remain involved well beyond settlement. The result is debt that fits the business, not the other way around.

  • While our core work sits in commercial capital, we extend the same rigour to residential lending for clients, their families, and their key people. Whether structuring a principal place of residence, an investment portfolio, or financing a significant home build, we treat residential debt as part of the broader balance sheet rather than a standalone transaction. We have access to the full panel of major and non-bank lenders, and we apply the same analytical discipline to serviceability, structure and pricing that we bring to commercial mandates. For business owners in particular, this matters: residential and commercial positions are rarely independent, and we structure them with that reality in mind.

  • Property development demands more than a broker who can place a loan. We sit alongside developers from feasibility through to project completion, structuring capital stacks that balance senior debt, mezzanine, and equity to deliver commercial outcomes that work in market conditions as they actually are. Our involvement begins with site acquisition and feasibility interrogation, extends through term sheet negotiation and financial close, and continues through the construction phase with active management of drawdowns, cost-to-complete reviews, and lender relationships. For developers, this means a single advisor accountable for the financing lifecycle, not a hand-off at settlement.

  • Some opportunities call for equity, not debt. Through long-standing relationships with high-net-worth investors, family offices, and sophisticated capital providers, we connect founders, developers and operators with the right equity partners for the right transactions. We work discreetly, brief investors with the rigour they expect, and structure capital introductions that protect both sides of the table. This is relationship capital, matched carefully, not broadcast widely.

  • For business leaders carrying the weight of capital strategy without an internal Chief Financial Officer, we provide ongoing strategic advisory at the executive level. This is not bookkeeping or compliance work; it is the capital, banking and funding counsel a CFO would otherwise deliver. Engagements typically cover banking relationship strategy, covenant management, capital structure optimisation, refinancing planning, board reporting on funding matters, and preparation for major transactions or growth phases. Clients gain a senior financial advisor on retainer, embedded enough to know the business, independent enough to challenge it.

  • We measure success by the quality of the businesses we serve and the strength of the communities we serve them in. Bayside Capital Advisory partners with Give Where You Live Foundation, the Geelong Community Foundation, and Pay The Rent, contributing financially to organisations doing meaningful work across our region and beyond. Beyond philanthropy, our team holds pro bono advisory roles with the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative and provides specialist finance and board advisory to Creative Geelong and the Social Enterprise Group. Commercial finance is our craft. Community is the context that makes it matter.

His focus has always been on disciplined structuring, rigorous risk management, and long-term capital outcomes.

Outside of work, Trent is a husband and father of two, and by his own admission a long-suffering supporter of the Essendon Bombers. His connection to Regional Victoria and community remains central to both his personal life and professional focus.
